These Anderson original SB175 plugs are ideal for use in quick plug instances such as booster cables, winches, and other battery cable connections. We start with the SB175 plug for 0 Gauge (1/0 AWG) wire and then crimp and assemble the plug with the length of wire you choose. We also give you the choice for a connector on the other end including corrosion resistant tin plated copper ring terminal lugs, top post battery terminal or jumper cable clamps.
The options you choose allow you to construct the ideal cable to suit your needs. For example: If you wanted to make a quick connect jumper cable set you could choose a 3 foot cable with lugs to fit your battery and get a second cable assembly 12 foot long with jumper cable clamps. Another popular example is a mating set of cables so you could order 2 cable assemblies, each 3 foot long with lugs.
Based off the design pioneered by Anderson in 1953, APP®s two pole SB® connectors set the standard for DC power distribution and battery connections. SB®175 connectors feature a one piece plastic housing using stainless steel springs to hold low resistance contacts in place. There is no "gender" to the plugs, no "male" or "female"...the plugs mate upside down with each other which aligns the Positive + and Negative- poles of the connector.
The SB175 plug will mate with other SB175 plugs of the SAME COLOR! You cannot mate a RED and GRAY plug as they are made differently to avoid this. Also, the SB175 will not mate with a larger or smaller plug style such as the SB50 or SB350. The plugs will only mate with their own series (SB175). Two SB175 plugs of the same color will mate even with different wire sizes as the actual contacts are the same physical size meaning you can mate a GRAY SB175 with 4 AWG wires and a GRAY SB175 with 1/0 AWG wires with no problem. This again is a reason why this plug style is so popular in many battery applications.
The plug is rated to handle up to 280 Amps (per UL 1977 Wire to Wire 1/0 AWG Max) and is listed to handle 175A of live current plugging and unplugging while under charge (UL Hot Plug Current Rating). The SB175 is rated up to 600V DC or AC.
We carry additional SB175 plugs in our store if you need extra plugs for existing cables.
If you need something special with regard to the length or lugs outside the available options please send us a message and we may be able to help you out. Also you can add notes to us during checkout with special configuration requests (although we prefer you message us first to discuss).
ABOUT THE WIRE USED:
This 1/0 AWG (0 Gauge) extreme battery cable is specially designed to meet the demands of various environments while staying extremely flexible. Full AWG sized copper conductor made from 99.9% pure annealed electrolytic copper, will you get maximum power. The insulation and jacket compounds are specially formulated to stay flexible even in cold weather and carry a -49C to 105C temperature rating. The jacket is resistant to chemicals, water, abrasions, oil, sunlight and has a color coded dual extrusion jacket with a white inner insulation which would show any damage to the outer cable more clearly. This cable is rated up to 600 Volts and is suitable for use in automotive applications, solar battery bank wiring, power inverter battery cables, marine battery cables and many other applications calling for a durable yet flexible battery cable. The battery cables meet the requirements of SAE J1127 and J378 making them ABYC and US Coast Guard approved for boat and marine use.
BENEFITS OVER WELDING CABLE:
Full AWG Size Copper Conductor
TPE Jacket is Oil Resistant where EPDM on many welding cables is a poor insulator against oil
SAE Rated for Automotive and Marine Uses
BENEFITS OVER CCA POWER WIRE:
Our cable is Copper...REAL COPPER but watch out for other "CCA Cable" as CCA Means Copper Clad Aluminum so you'd be using Aluminum which is a poor conductor compared to this pure copper cable! You have to use larger sizes of aluminum CCA cable, approximately 2 sizes larger to get close to the same power delivery as real copper cable! If you care about maximum power use our cable!
The jacket on the cable reads as follows:
BATTERYCABLESUSA.COM 1/0 AWG MARINE SAE J378/J1127 600V (-49C to 105C) MADE IN USA
Benefits:
ABYC and USCG Approved for use on boats
SAE J1127 Approved
SAE J378 Approved
TPE Jacket is Very Resistant to Oil, Water, Acid, Gas, Tears and Abrasions
The Jacket Insulation Meets UL FT1 Flame Resistance Rating
Annealed Electrolytic Copper with Class K (Type III) Rope Lay for flexibility

Final pointers on lug sizing....most threaded stud batteries will have either a 5/16 or 3/8 inch stud. Most of the time the negative will be 5/16 so if the positive is the same size it is also 5/16, but if your battery stud is larger on the positive it will most likely be a 3/8. There are exceptions to the rule so please contact the manufacturer or measure. You can search online for bolt sizing tables which will help.
If you have questions about cable sizing and whether this is the correct size feel free to send us a message and we will do our best to answer you or at a minimum steer you in the right direction. Also let us know if you need a different configuration than what is offered and we will tell you how to place the order with notes so we can build EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED.
