Each setup bar has a concave step at the bottom that straddles your router bit or saw blade, allowing more exact height adjustments. On the top edge of each bar is a step that acts as a gauge to test the depth of your cuts once complete. There is another step on the end of the Kreg setup bars that can be used to set the distance between a tablesaw blade and the fence or between a router bit and the fence.
