As you can tell from the pictures this 14klb trailer has snapped in half, with just over 3k lbs loaded on it and while sitting in the sams parking lot it broke. The guys loading it couldnt believe their eyes, either could I.This trailer was built using 1 piece of 8in C channel for the frame, while every other trailer with a tilt deck uses atleast 2 pieces of channel welded on top of each other. I didnt pay attention to this before purchasing, I was trying to save a few bucks and this is the result.
You can see the quality of the welds from the pictures
One picture shows the trailer broken and another tilt deck trailer behind it loaded with 2 times the weight that I was trying to haul on the kerrbilt trailer that day.
When this trailer broke I had to go borrow my buddys trailer and use it to haul the load, the kerrbilt trailer broke with 3 pallets while sitting in a parking lot and the other trailer hauled 6 pallets down the road with no problems.
While this trailer is junk, it could still be used to haul very lightweight items. (empty boxes, styrofoam, packing peanuts) just nothing heavy, in fact I wouldnt even stand on it. Due to the high number of questions Ive received Im going to answer them all at once.
1. Yes this is a real auction
2. Yes, the trailer broke in half with exactly what I said it had on it. Im glad some of you are getting a kick out of the auction. But please no need to contact "the builder" to tell him his trailers are junk. I dont want that.
3. Yes, the welds in the pictures are for real, I couldnt see what I was buying, I met one of His guys at 1am at a truckstop when I bought the trailer after getting the run around for months about delivery, it was dark and I didnt look close enough. (Yeah I know)
I was just happy to get something and not just straight up ripped off.
4. In response to what I was told "the builder" claims I did to break the trailer. He claims I drove my forklift up the trailer with a load of drinks on it and when the trailer deck slammed down it broke. Even if I did do what he claims and drove a forklift up on the trailer, my forklift weighs 6500lbs a pallet of drinks less than a 1klbs. So 7500lbs is too much to load on a 14klb trailer?
(But can anyone explain why you'd drive the forklift up the trailer instead of just loading it from the side?)
Im glad I didnt try to load my 9k lb tractor on it, it may of exploded. lol
