Description

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Tektronix (founded 1946) we are re-issuing the Logo and Wizard Oscilloscope Demo Board. When connected to a suitable oscilloscope operating in X-Y mode, this board will display the Tek Logo, the Wizard (which first appeared in the manual for the 454) and with two potentiometers (not supplied) to control the paddles, play electronic table tennis. In addition, this version will display an image of the 511 oscilloscope, Tektronix's first product, introduced in 1947, sometimes referred to as the "Vollumscope".
The board can be configured to display all three static images in sequence for a few seconds each, or any one image continuously.
The oscilloscope used must have vertical and horizontal sensitivity of 500mV per division (or 50mV if used with 10X probes). Not all oscilloscopes have an X-Y mode, and some don't have adequate horizontal sensitivity or reversed horizontal polarity. The Tektronix 300-series such as the 310 are unsuitable for these reasons. Also, DC input is preferred, since some oscilloscopes have short input time constants in AC mode, which will distort the display.
The board requires 5 volts about about 20mA, plus the current required by the pots if the tennis mode is used. It will run at lower voltage, with reduced output amplitude. It could be powered by three 1.5V cells.
