This is a Washington Capitals Sandow SK Dureen size 52 Home Captains Jersey of Ryan Walter who would be the Caps youngest Captain at 21 years of age in 1979/80 his second season with the Caps. Ryan would be drafted 2 Overall in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft in 1978/79 and be voted the NHL MVP. Ryan would come out of the Western Hockey League Seattle Breakers and was the MVP and winner of the Player of the Year Award. At the end of the 1981/82 season Ryan would be traded along with former First Round Pick Rick Green to Montreal in the Rod Langway trade and go onto win the Stanley Cup in 1986. These Sandow SK jerseys were used during the 1980 & 81 seasons for the Capitals training camp series in Sweden at the Daily Mail Cup and for team pictures for those years and emergency purposes during the regular season. Ryan would play fro 15 seasons in the NHL - 4 with the Caps & 9 with Montreal and 2 with Vancouver and over a 1000 games in the NHL and be selected to the 1983 All Star Game.. Ryan would start his career by winning the 1978 World U-20 Championships and finish his career as the Assistant Coach with the Vancouver Canucks in 2008 & 2009. Ryan would also be named coach for Canada's women's team in 2010 and win the Gold Cup. This is a great piece of Washington Capitals memorabilia to have of one of the NHL's former much respected and accomplished players for your collection.
